The leader of the Liberal Initiative, Rui Rocha, has accused Prime Minister Luís Montenegro of failing to provide timely answers regarding the family business Spinumviva, resulting in “instability in the country” and “pushing towards legislative elections.”
However, if it becomes necessary to form a government agreement with the AD after the elections to ensure political stability, Rui Rocha assures that the party will be “fully responsible.”
“We want the country to have a political and governing solution with stability, which has been lacking. We will be demanding in terms of stability and structural change conditions for the country. Do not ask the Liberal Initiative, which has been a responsible party, if we are available to be the adults in the room; ask the others if they are in a position to ensure political stability,” stated Rui Rocha during a visit to the Feira das Cantarinhas in Bragança.
In an electoral campaign tone, which officially starts next week, Rui Rocha admitted that the “Spinumviva issue has already been contaminated,” but the IL will demand “space to talk about concrete policies for the country.”
“If we look at the historical record of AD’s government in Health, all plans have failed. Emergency services that were only closed during peak periods are now closed every weekend, permanently. The AD’s emphasis on health is failing because it insists on patchwork solutions and does not want to change the country’s health approach. The only measure that can lead to universal access for everyone is to tell the Portuguese that they can choose where they want to be treated,” added the IL leader.
It should be noted that Prime Minister Luís Montenegro submitted a replacement declaration of interests to the Transparency Portal on Wednesday, including seven new clients of the family business Spinumviva.
