“This is a government that fundamentally doesn’t have solutions for the country because it operates without any direction, lacking a scientific basis for the public policies it wants to implement,” criticized Mariana Leitão at the launch of Ângela Silva’s candidacy for the Municipal Chamber of Mirandela, in the Bragança district.
The liberal leader accused the executive of not having numbers “for absolutely anything” after 100 days of governance, marked on Saturday.
“There are no numbers for public servants; they don’t know how many there are, where they work, or how much they earn. There are no numbers for education; they don’t know how many students don’t have teachers or the reality of the state of education. There are no numbers for health and no numbers for housing; they have no idea how many vacant properties exist in the country,” she pointed out.
Mariana Leitão warned about the negative situation in the health sector, a day after the Obstetrics and Gynecology emergency services at Hospital Garcia de Orta unexpectedly closed, being the only hospital on the south bank of the Tagus River providing the service this weekend.

The Obstetrics and Gynecology emergency services at Hospital Garcia de Orta in Almada are closed due to a shortage of doctors, revealed the government, as this was the only hospital on the south bank ensuring the service this weekend.

“Just yesterday, another emergency service closed, this time on the south bank, even though the Health Minister said everything would be fully operational on September 1. However, here we are on September 14, and we continue with closed emergency services,” she lamented.
Mariana Leitão criticized the “constant presentation of plans and ‘powerpoints’ with goals” in the health sector that “are never fulfilled,” calling for an end to the “ideological blindness” in the sector.
The IL leader also addressed the topic of forest fires and advocated for a “strong investment in prevention.”
“We cannot have the interior always making news for catastrophes. We need to have the interior, and Mirandela, making news for good things, and that is what we must focus on, which will be part of our work, not only at the municipal level but also at the national level,” she stated.
Mariana Leitão highlighted that this is the first time IL has presented a candidacy for the Mirandela council, which demonstrates “the growth of the party.”
“The fact that we are here today proves that IL is no longer just a national idea; it’s a living force growing in every city, every parish, every community, and Mirandela now joins this path of change,” she considered.
