IL bets on César Pimentel for the Ribeira Grande Council

The local coordination group of the Iniciativa Liberal (IL) of the Azores announced that César Pimentel’s candidacy will be an opportunity to “renew municipal politics” and to align “decisions with the real needs of the people of Ribeira Grande,” on the island of São Miguel.

Telecommunications engineer César Pimentel, a native of Maia residing in Pico da Pedra in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, “represents a new generation of citizens committed to bringing energy, innovation, and an approachable character to local politics,” the party emphasized.

This marks the first time that the Azorean liberals run a candidate for the Câmara Municipal of Ribeira Grande in municipal elections.

The candidacy was announced during a celebration lunch for “Tax Liberation Day,” which, according to IL, “symbolically marks the time of year until which the Portuguese work solely to pay taxes, a burdensome reality” that Iniciativa Liberal “chooses to transform into a moment of awareness and political assertion.”

According to Hugo Almeida, responsible for Iniciativa Liberal’s structure in the Azores, César Pimentel “is a candidate close to the people, a cultural dynamizer, and will undoubtedly be a promoter of Liberalism and proximity policies” in the municipality of Ribeira Grande.

“We want dynamic people, with energy and a desire to improve what needs to be improved, who present policies that create opportunities and enhance the lives of citizens,” Hugo Almeida reiterated in the statement.

The candidate César Pimentel expressed having “professional and personal experience, capability, and plans to ensure the success of Ribeira Grande and all its inhabitants.”
