“In Braga, it appears that the Liberal Initiative may have its best result ever,” stated a party representative at the party’s headquarters in Porto, remarking that “overall, the information we have at the moment indicates it will be a long night.”
In his statement to reporters, the deputy elected in Porto expressed “a word of great gratitude to all the Portuguese who exercised their right to vote today and came to the polls to express their will in freedom and democracy.”
Furthermore, Rangel extended “a huge thank you to all the liberal candidates across the country who’ve spent the last few months carrying the liberal message, explaining liberal proposals, municipality by municipality, street by street, and have done an excellent job.”
“We ran a positive campaign, demonstrating with high quality the importance of the Liberal Initiative, its proposals, and the quality of its candidates,” he added, noting that now “we must wait patiently” for the results.
Four years ago, during the first municipal elections in which it participated, the Liberal Initiative (IL) elected one parish council president and 90 municipal positions, with the current goal to triple that outcome.
