In response to this summer’s fires, the parliament today will consider proposals for the creation of inquiry commissions on fires and forest fires, presented by BE, Chega, JPP, and PAN, with the leader of IL aiming to support their creation.
Speaking in Oeiras, during a local election pre-campaign event, Mariana Leitão emphasized the importance of “understanding where the problems in land management and resource management lie.”
The goal is “to ensure not only prevention but also a serious approach to combating fires, so that we do not face the same plight every summer, which has repeatedly been a traumatic situation for our country,” she explained.
People “often see their property and even their lives at risk, which we obviously do not want to happen,” she added. “We have also presented proposals to ensure land management and land registry records, to effectively resolve this issue once and for all,” the liberal leader stated.
