
Exports and imports of goods saw nominal year-on-year increases of 2.5% and 12.1% in May, respectively, following a 6% decrease and a 2% rise in April, reported the National Institute of Statistics (INE) today.
According to the international trade statistics from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), in May, the trade deficit of goods reached 3.217 billion euros, reflecting a deterioration of 935 million euros compared to the same month of the previous year.
When excluding TTE transactions, which involve or result from work on order (without property transfer), these increases recorded in May were less pronounced: 1.5% in exports and 3.5% in imports (-7.7% and -3.5% in April).
During the month in question, prices continued to register negative variations, more pronounced than in the previous month, in both flows, with decreases of 2.2% in exports and 3.5% in imports, comparing with a rise of 0.2% in exports and a decrease of 2.1% in imports in May 2024.
