A 47-year-old woman was arrested on the morning of July 8 for disobedience after being caught driving a vehicle that had been seized by authorities in 2021 in Leiria.
The woman was sentenced to pay a fine of 300 euros, equivalent to 60 days, or to serve 40 days of subsidiary imprisonment, according to a statement sent to the press by the Public Security Police (PSP).
The security force pointed out that the suspect did not have the “financial means” to pay the fine, so she “was taken to Tires Prison to serve 40 days of subsidiary imprisonment.”
“In this way, the Leiria District Command demonstrates its commitment to combating crime in all its forms, continuing to strive for the accountability of perpetrators of various criminal offenses,” it noted.
This action was carried out by the Leiria District Command of the PSP, through the Leiria Police Intervention and Inspection Unit.

Eighteen tourist entertainment vehicles – tuk-tuks – were seized last Thursday by the GNR in the municipalities of Lisbon and Sintra due to false documents and license plates. It should be noted that the circulation of tuk-tuks is prohibited on a total of 337 streets across seven Lisbon parishes.
