A fire broke out this Wednesday in Pampilhosa da Serra, situated in the district of Coimbra, and an hour after the alert was raised, it has engaged almost 200 emergency personnel.
The Sub-regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of the Coimbra Region stated that “the fire is developing but responding to measures.”
In addition to the 180 personnel deployed at the scene, six aircraft are assisting in firefighting efforts, one hour after the outbreak of the fire.
The alert was issued at 6:47 PM, and there is currently no information on whether the fire poses a threat to populated areas.
It is important to note that Coimbra is one of the districts classified as being at maximum fire risk, according to an assessment by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
This risk, determined by IPMA, is categorized into five levels ranging from reduced to maximum. The calculations are based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and precipitation over the last 24 hours.
