
Industrial production fell by 1.8% in July in both the euro area and the European Union (EU) compared to the same month last year, according to data released today by Eurostat.
The European statistical service also reported that, on a monthly comparison, the indicator rose by 0.3% in the euro area and 0.2% across the 27 EU member states in July.
The main monthly gains in industrial production were observed in Croatia (2.6%), Hungary, and Slovenia (both 2.1%), while Estonia (-5.5%), Malta (-4.7%), and Sweden (-3.9%) recorded the largest declines.
The highest year-on-year increases were recorded in Latvia (9.8%), Ireland (8.1%), and Sweden (4.1%), with the largest decreases in Bulgaria (-8.3%), Luxembourg (-4.7%), and Slovakia (-4.6%).
In Portugal, the indicator rose by 1.7% compared to July 2024 and declined by 1.5% compared to June.
