
The monthly variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) is reported to have been stagnant (0.9% in September and 0.1% in October 2024), according to the statistical institute.
The underlying inflation indicator, excluding products with more volatile prices such as unprocessed food and energy, registered a variation of 2.1%, a rate 0.1 percentage points higher than that of September.
Meanwhile, the energy product index’s rate declined to -1.2% (0.3% in September), and the index for unprocessed food products slowed to 6.1% (7.0% the previous month).
Over the last 12 months, the institute estimates an average index variation of 2.4%, matching the previous month’s figure.
The Portuguese Harmonised Consumer Price Index (HICP), which allows for comparison with other European countries, recorded a year-on-year variation of 2.0% in October, compared to 1.9% in the previous month.
Final data regarding the CPI for October 2025 will be released by the statistical institute on November 12.
