According to the Sub-Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection in the Porto Metropolitan Area, the alert was issued at 10:31 a.m. The serious injuries involve the doctor who was in the INEM ambulance and one of the individuals who was struck.
The source explained that “the INEM vehicle was responding to an emergency when it veered off course and ended up hitting two people.”
The incident also resulted in two minor injuries: the nurse who was part of the VMER crew and the other person who was hit.
Two vehicles from the Espinho Volunteer Firefighters were present at the scene.
