“Following the news shared yesterday [Wednesday] about the report that IGAS has been developing regarding the tragic events following an INEM strike that the government failed to manage, the PS will urgently summon the Health Minister to parliament,” PS deputy Mariana Vieira da Silva told reporters.
The socialist expressed that Ana Paula Martins must “take responsibility” and “not hide.”
When asked about the PS’s voting intention on the inquiry commission into INEM’s management proposed today by IL, Mariana Vieira da Silva deferred the decision until the liberals’ text is known.
The IGAS concluded that the death of a man in November 2024, during the INEM strike, could have been avoided if aid had arrived in a timely manner.
“It was concluded that the patient’s death could have been avoided had there been prompt assistance, allowing the evacuation through a Coronary Green Way to the nearest hospital, where he could have undergone coronary angioplasty in one of the Hemodynamic Units,” the General Inspectorate of Health Activities (IGAS) stated in a release on Wednesday.
This incident dates back to November 4, 2024, a day marked by simultaneous strikes – one by pre-hospital emergency technicians against overtime, and another by public administration.
