INEM will hire 200 more pre-hospital emergency technicians

The National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) announced new job openings in the Lisbon, Vale do Tejo, and Alentejo regions, highlighting significant improvements in salary conditions and career structure, alongside finalizing collaboration protocols to provide housing for professionals.

The institute noted that the adjusted base salary now starts at 1,126.7 euros per month.

“Beyond salary enhancement, the new legal framework introduces changes to the career progression model, allowing TEPH to advance to higher levels based on objective criteria such as seniority and continuous training,” it stated.

These measures aim to make the profession more attractive and increase the stability and motivation of emergency teams, stressing that improved working conditions and career focus “reinforce the institute’s commitment” to the quality of pre-hospital care in the country, INEM emphasized.

“This is a career opportunity for those looking to join a profession of high social importance, with new guarantees of professional appreciation,” it emphasized.

In May, the government authorized the recruitment of 200 more TEPH for the INEM, doubling the number of hirings at the start of the year.

In early 2024, INEM’s president, Sérgio Janeiro, mentioned that a total of 400 new TEPH could be welcomed throughout the year, marking an increase of over 40% compared to the workforce at the end of 2024.

With these new professionals, the INEM aims to expand its TEPH staff from around 1,100 to 1,300.
