
The National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) for August confirms a slowing inflation trend in the country, although certain expenditure categories continue to experience significant increases.
In August, the highest growth was observed in the healthcare category, at 23.69%, followed by transport (21.07%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (20.55%), and miscellaneous goods and services (20.54%).
In terms of contribution by expenditure class, food and non-alcoholic beverages contributed the most to the rise in prices, adding 11.60 percentage points to the overall price level.
This was followed by miscellaneous goods and services (1.45 percentage points), transport (1.09 percentage points), and healthcare (0.99 percentage points), while the remaining categories contributed less than one percentage point.
Regional analysis shows that Luanda (16.36%), Malanje (17.52%), and Huambo (17.69%) were the provinces with the smallest price variation, while Cabinda recorded the highest increase (29.58%), followed by Namibe (23.86%) and Cuanza Norte (23.81%).
