“The constitutional revision is not a priority for the country,” António José Seguro stated during the “Conversations with the President” event organized by the AEP Foundation in Porto.

According to Seguro, power only makes sense if it brings positive change to people’s lives. At this moment, political parties should focus on solving the issues faced by the Portuguese population.

He argued that resolving problems related to housing, health, education, or social security does not require a constitutional revision.

Seguro noted that a middle-class family currently lacks the means to rent or buy a house for their children to study or start a life.

He also highlighted that the youth unemployment rate in Portugal is nearly three times higher than the normal rate, and many people are struggling and suffering.

“We must not forget that there are poor people in Portugal who work, and the money from their salary is not enough to lift them out of poverty,” he emphasized.

“If politics is merely talk and does not address problems, people become disengaged and disillusioned,” he remarked.
