Insurance does not want a “country of feet of clay” and calls for solutions for Health

In statements made in Brussels during his campaign day dedicated to the Portuguese community, candidate Seguro declined to comment on the controversy surrounding the death of the pregnant woman at Amadora Sintra Hospital, criticizing instead the broader issues at play.

He highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating, “In recent months, we have witnessed tragic events and situations that are completely abnormal, yet they seem to be creating a new normality.”

The presidential candidate emphasized the need for transparency, insisting, “We must stop pretending and not hide the glaring issues within the National Health Service that require urgent correction, alongside equipment failures.”

He referred to a recent alarming report about a helicopter in the Algarve which, despite favorable weather, could not take off. Seguro condemned this as “unacceptable” and criticized the nation for becoming “a country of clay feet.”

Highlighting the necessity of addressing fundamental causes rather than symptoms, Seguro urged for effective solutions. “We need to move beyond daily distractions and find long-term solutions, which is why I’ve advocated for a health pact for over a year,” he reiterated.

According to Seguro, the proposed health pact would involve “very concrete, clear, and objective measures with funding to ensure implementation.”

He asserted that this would ultimately lead to improved access to healthcare for Portuguese citizens, stressing the importance of actions over mere words.
