The Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing, and Employment of the Azores has announced a special Christmas campaign for the Interjovem Card that includes inter-island flights operated by Sata Air Açores. This campaign runs from December 1 to December 31.
An official decree highlighted that “young holders of a valid Interjovem Card pay 21 euros for round-trip inter-island flights and 15 euros for one-way inter-island flights.”
Maria João Carreiro, the regional secretary for Youth, Housing, and Employment, explained that the measure addresses “an increase in student travel returning to their home islands during December.”
“During this period, Christmas-related initiatives proliferate across different islands. Thus, enhancing the benefits offered by the Interjovem Card during this festive season contributes to greater youth mobility between islands,” she stated.
The decree emphasizes that the Program of the XIV Government of the Azores outlines, in its comprehensive strategy, “an incentive for regional mobility as an enriching experience and a catalyst for creating a sense of Azorean identity.”
“The Medium-Term Guidelines for youth policies also advocate the creation of measures to encourage youth mobility as a tool for the empowerment and education of young Azoreans,” it added.
Additionally, the decree noted that the Interjovem Card “promotes the movement of young people between the Azores islands by offering favorable conditions for young natives and residents of the Azores, as well as Azorean descendants registered on the ‘Azoreans in the World’ platform at https://acorianosnomundo.azores.gov.pt/, managed by the regional government department responsible for community matters.”
The publication also recalled that a program contract was signed on February 4, 2025, outlining terms for collaboration between the Autonomous Region of the Azores, Atlânticoline S.A., and SATA Air Açores to operate the Interjovem Card in 2025.
“Clause 7 of the program contract, which was approved as part of the Government Council’s Resolution No. 191/2024 dated December 30, states that the Autonomous Region of the Azores can, through a decree from the competent government member for youth matters, create specific and more advantageous commercial campaigns for holders of the Interjovem Card,” it explained.
