
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), demand is expected to recover, driven by lower prices despite U.S. tariff policies.
Production is projected to remain stable in the 2025-2026 season at 3.4 million tons.
In Spain, the world’s largest producer, wholesale prices have fallen to less than half compared to their peak in January 2024, in contrast to Italy, where prices have remained high.
Regarding production, in Tunisia, rainfall has led to a record harvest of over 400,000 tons.
Spain experienced favorable weather conditions at the beginning of the season, but summer droughts are expected to keep production stable.
In Greece and Turkey, the harvest is expected to be lower than last year’s.
