IP3 cut between Treixedo and Tondela South starting Tuesday

Estradas de Portugal (IP) announced a traffic cut on a major road for an estimated period of four days. This closure is necessary to facilitate the complete demolition of structures on an overpass on the IP3 route.

The organization stated, “As with the section between the Canas de Santa Maria/Valverde and São Miguel de Outeiro junctions, due to environmental reasons, to guarantee the nighttime rest of local residents, and to ensure the safety of travelers during the works, traffic will be cut.”

During this period, traffic will be redirected to the National Road 2.

IP emphasized that the project, which involves duplicating and upgrading the section between Santa Comba Dão and Viseu, represents an investment of approximately 103 million euros. This project entails doubling the current IP3 platform over a stretch of 27.5 kilometers.

The goal is to improve the levels of quality, comfort, and road safety, increase capacity, and reduce travel times between Santa Comba Dão and Viseu.

According to IP, this construction is part of a broader project aimed at upgrading and duplicating the IP3, which is considered a road of undeniable regional importance and a promoter of territorial cohesion.

“As part of this project, the rehabilitation of the section between the Penacova junction and the bridge over the Dão River has already been completed,” added IP.
