The two islands of the eastern group of the Azorean archipelago were already under a yellow weather warning, with forecasts of heavy rain extending until midnight on Tuesday.
The yellow warning now extends until 5:00 AM local time (6:00 AM in Lisbon) on Tuesday, due to forecasts of “occasionally heavy rainfall, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms.”
The yellow warning, the least severe on a three-level scale, is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on meteorological conditions.
