IPMA raises to 10 the districts under yellow warning due to rain

Weather alerts have been issued for the districts of Évora, Setúbal, Santarém, Lisbon, Leiria, and Portalegre, which will be under a yellow warning from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM today and again from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday.

Additionally, Beja, Castelo Branco, and Coimbra are set to experience a yellow rain warning, effective from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday.

The district of Faro is also under a yellow warning due to forecasts of heavy showers between 12:00 AM and 6:00 AM on Friday, as well as rough seas with southeasterly waves expected to reach heights of 2 to 2.5 meters from 3:00 AM to 12:00 PM the same day.

The yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued when there is a risk to certain activities due to the weather conditions.

The meteorological agency predicts periods of very cloudy skies for the mainland today, favorable conditions for showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the central and southern regions, and suspended dust.

The forecast also anticipates generally light winds, although moderate to strong winds are expected in highland areas, a slight increase in minimum temperatures, and a decrease in maximum temperatures.

Minimum temperatures are anticipated to range from 11 degrees Celsius in Guarda to 18 degrees in Portalegre, while maximum temperatures are expected to range from 21 degrees in Guarda to 30 degrees in Braga.

On Friday, the entire mainland is expected to experience periods of rain or showers accompanied by thunderstorms, which may be locally intense, a situation that is likely to extend at least until Sunday.
