The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) had previously issued a yellow weather warning for the districts of Évora, Beja, Castelo Branco, and Portalegre due to persistent high temperatures from 12:00 on Tuesday until 18:00 on Wednesday.
In a new statement, IPMA has added the district of Guarda to the yellow warning list for the same duration.
The IPMA also issued a yellow warning for the southern coast of Madeira island from 09:00 on Tuesday until 21:00 on Wednesday because of the hot weather.
The yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on weather conditions.
