The IPMA has announced that the approach of a cold frontal surface with waves, exhibiting moderate to strong activity, “will cause a worsening in weather conditions” in the Western (Flores and Corvo) and Central (Faial, Pico, São Jorge, Graciosa, and Terceira) groups.
The IPMA forecasts heavy rain for the Western group, potentially accompanied by thunderstorms, especially in the early hours of Wednesday, prompting an elevation to an orange warning level.
In the Central group, heavy rainfall is also expected from Wednesday afternoon.
The orange warning indicates a high risk or danger due to meteorological conditions that may become or already are hazardous, involving events like strong winds, intense precipitation, storms, or maritime agitation.
