The concert is set to take place as part of the ‘Run For Your Lives’ tour, the same tour from the band’s recent visit to Lisbon, as they are “loving” the tour.
“The fans have been incredible, the lineup is perfect for the 50th anniversary, the show is probably our best ever, and the ticket demand has been extraordinary, with almost everything sold out and over a million fans attending. So, we thought we should do a few more shows in Europe before heading to other parts of the world,” said bassist Steve Harris in a statement.
In the same press release, the British band’s manager, Rod Smallwood, expressed satisfaction that “the vast majority of fans” have adhered to the request “to severely limit the use of mobile phones during concerts, ideally keeping them in pockets throughout the performance, especially in standing areas in front of the stage.”
“Unfortunately, there were exceptions, but overall, the understanding and cooperation of the fans made a colossal difference in the atmosphere of each concert, greatly enhancing the enjoyment for both the band and the audience,” he added.
Founded in 1975, the British Iron Maiden have been frequent visitors to Portugal. Bassist Steve Harris even owned a bar in Faro for over 20 years, and the band headlined the 2011 edition of the Algarve capital’s Motorcycle Rally.
The first Iron Maiden album featuring Bruce Dickinson, ‘The Number of the Beast’ (1982), propelled them to the forefront of the music genre, being the creators of numerous classics in metal such as ‘Somewhere in Time’ and ‘Fear of the Dark.’
Tickets, priced between 65 and 90 euros according to the SL Benfica website, will be available for pre-sale at FNAC stores during 24 hours on September 23, with general sales starting on the 27th.
