Isabel Moreira in solidarity with João Costa. “He has endured years of insane attacks.”

Isabel Moreira, a Socialist deputy, has expressed her solidarity with former Education Minister João Costa, who on Monday filed a complaint with the Judiciary Police against unknown individuals following another death threat.

On the social media platform X, Moreira highlighted that Costa has been subject to “insane attacks” for several years, noting that his response has consistently been marked by “extreme elegance.”

“All my solidarity with João Costa who has endured years of insane attacks and has always maintained extreme elegance and absolute rigor in this matter,” reads Isabel Moreira’s tweet.

It should be noted that João Costa revealed on Monday, in an article written for the newspaper Expresso, that he had received yet another death threat. The anonymous email he received, which included a false image from a school manual, stated, “A good socialist is a dead socialist,” along with accusations of promoting inappropriate content for children.

Despite not knowing the identity of the “coward” who threatened him, the former minister recalled several episodes involving far-right parties, accusing them of encouraging “hate crimes.”
