At a press conference following an extraordinary Council of Ministers meeting in Viseu, Luís Montenegro was questioned about the operational reorganization of Civil Protection concerning the territorial division of the command system and the possibility of the state acquiring its own fleet of aerial resources.
“Both questions are very relevant. The first, in fact, is literally part of the Government’s program,” he assured.
Regarding the second question, the Prime Minister stated it involves a reflection on “the Civil Protection system and its operational capacity.”
“But frankly, at a time when this system is fully operational, with personnel fulfilling the task of defending and protecting our security, our lives, and our property, it is not appropriate, and I will not violate this principle of mine by promoting this discussion at this time,” he justified.
