It may rain on Saturday and Sunday, but the week will have “normal weather for the season”.

Planning a beach trip this weekend? Depending on your location, you may encounter rain, both Saturday and Sunday. The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts “temperatures will reflect seasonal norms” during the week of July 13 to 20.

“Next week, mainland Portugal will be influenced by a north or northwest flow, which will lead to a drop in temperature and northwest winds,” the organization stated in a communiqué released this Friday.

The report specified that on the west coast, “the wind will blow in a moderate to strong nortada regime, with speeds exceeding 30 km/h, particularly south of Cabo Carvoeiro.”

On Sunday, the IPMA highlighted that “light precipitation will occur, significantly affecting Minho, Douro Litoral, and Beira Litoral.” This weather pattern is expected to repeat “likely […] at the end of the week,” according to the note.

The agency also noted that “coastal areas in the North and Center regions will experience significant cloud cover, fog, and possible drizzle until mid-morning.”

Temperatures are anticipated to be “in line with seasonal norms or slightly below average on the west coast.”

As for the maximums, temperatures “will range from 22°C to 29°C in areas closer to the west coast and above 30°C inland.” However, in these inland regions, temperatures are expected to surpass 35°C “from mid-week onwards.”
