
Five people are trapped inside a jeep that became stuck in the Ferreira River in Gondomar. The vehicle attempted to cross the area but was unable to proceed. Among the five occupants, three are children, according to the Sub-regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of the Metropolitan Area of Porto.
The news, confirmed to Notícias ao Minuto, reports that the oldest child is ten years old.
“The car is stuck in the middle of the Ferreira River,” explained Gondomar’s Mayor, Luís Filipe Araújo, to SIC Notícias.
The mayor also noted that “the water is flowing very strongly,” despite the vehicle being on the riverbed.
A source from the S. Pedro da Cova Fire Department mentioned that access is “very difficult.”
According to Notícias ao Minuto, a source from the Sub-regional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection in the Metropolitan Area of Porto stated around 9 PM that “all five were conscious.” The alert was raised shortly after 6 PM.
There are at least 35 operatives on the scene.
