JNcQUOI Cabana. A “modest” yet luxurious piece of paradise in Comporta

JNcQUOI Cabana. A “modest” yet luxurious piece of paradise in Comporta

In anticipation of the Beach Club’s opening, the restaurant group set up at Praia do Pego with snacks and sun loungers.

“JnCQUOI” is by now not a name unfamiliar to many people. A string of upscale establishments, such as the eponymous restaurant on Avenida da Liberdade (in Lisbon) and Asia, practically next door, have created a sweeping reputation that has dogged the brand.

Now, as a kind of introduction to the Beach Club (scheduled to open in August), JNcQUOI Cabana is born, at Praia do Pego, in Carvalhal, Comporta. A paradisiacal setting, with sun loungers, thatched parasols and cabana-shaped beds. You can order a cocktail to accompany the many light dishes that the space has to offer. Music and a good atmosphere until nightfall are also guaranteed.

The restaurant group’s latest project has two distinct menus. At the establishment’s bar, the house specialties do not disappoint. Truffled nail in bolo do caco (€18) and black pork steak in bolo do caco (€16) introduce the menu. In turn, the menu offers variety in the pica-paus: one of veal with pickles (25€), one of black pork with coriander (23€) and one of tuna with pickled onion and oregano (24€).

The menu also features a range of kebabs – the so-called Robatas – all served with Turkish bread. Chicken yakitori (€9), lamb kofta (€11), chicken with chili (€8), black pork feathers with barbecue sauce (€16), tandoori shrimp (€16) and oyster mushroom shoarma (€7) fill the menu.

You can also opt for the tacos (all served with pico de gallo, lime and green and purple salsas), with shrimp (€7), picanha (€9) or carnitas (€6). Poke salads are also an alternative: vegetables with hummus and feta cheese (14€), salmon with quinoa and guacamole (17,50€) and shrimp with couscous and vegetables (16€).

The hungrier ones can opt for a hot dog: the sausage dog with mustard and ketchup (7€), the salmon with cream cheese and lime (9€), the shrimp and crab with truffle mayonnaise (18€) and the lobster with truffle mayonnaise (39€) are some of the proposals. To finish, choose a dessert. The cake of the day (€2 per slice), the sundae (€3) and the famous berlin ball (€2) are three possibilities.

There is also a different menu, exclusive to those who choose the sunbeds. Each sun lounger with thatched hat costs €50, while the “Cabana Beds” can be booked for €80. The price includes two JNcQUOI towels and two bottles of Earth Water

Flatbread with roast beef, cheese and horseradish (€8), shrimp tortilla and guacamole with mozzarella (€9) and flatbread with roast beef, cheese and horseradish (€8) are part of the hot sandwiches menu. In turn, the cold menu consists of ham, egg and tomato focaccia (€12) and Italian mortadella, burrata, arugula and tomato (€10), including a tuna mayonnaise baguette, egg, avocado and arugula (€9). The “Finger Sandwiches” are also available, with cheese, ham, lettuce and tomato (7€), cheese, walnuts, eggplant and arugula (8€) and smoked salmon, arugula and cream cheese.

Specialties include a sausage hot dog (€8), a bolo do caco with truffle mayonnaise (€18), mini pastéis de Chaves (€6) and the classic pão com chouriço (€6). The menu also includes poke salads and wraps. Ice creams from Olá (€3) and Häagen-Dazs (€7), a selection of diced fruit (€8) or a Berlin ball (€2) are some of the possible dessert options.

The JNcQUOI Cabana is open every day of the week, between 10 am and 10 pm. Sunbeds are available between 10 am and 7 pm.
