João Pimenta and Ana Mafalda Lopes among those awarded by the Academy of History

A work titled “Monte dos Castelinhos e as Dinâmicas da Conquista Romana da Península de Lisboa e Baixo Tejo,” in two volumes by João Pimenta, has been awarded the Prémio Câmara de Oeiras/Arqueólogo Octávio da Veiga Ferreira, valued at 2,500 euros.

“Rio de Janeiro em língua portuguesa (1576-1808),” authored by Brazilian historian Jean Marcel Carvalho França, received the Prémio Fundação Engenheiro António de Almeida/Joaquim Veríssimo Serrão, also with a monetary award of 2,500 euros.

The doctoral thesis in History by Ana Mafalda Pereira Lopes, titled “As viúvas do Porto: património, negócios e família (1700-1832),” won the Prémio Pina Manique. Do Iluminismo à Revolução Liberal, with the same monetary value.

Researcher Ana Isabel Rosa Martins was also honored with this award, receiving 1,000 euros for her master’s dissertation “Hospital de São Lázaro de Coimbra. Uma gafaria que resistiu ao fim da lepra (séculos XVI-XVIII).”

Horácio de Brito was awarded the Prémio EMEL/História dos Caminhos, Percursos e Mobilidade, receiving 2,000 euros for “Loriga — Natureza, História e Turismo Sustentável.”

The work “Doçaria Portuguesa. Das origens ao século XVIII” earned João Pedro Gomes the Prémio CTT/D. Manuel I, valued at 2,000 euros.

With a prize of 2,000 euros, the Prémio Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Braga/Dr. João Lobo was awarded to the book “O Lusitano e o outro na Amazônia do século XVIII — Análise da legislação indígena pombalina sob a ótica do ‘processo civilizador’ e da formação histórica do Império Português.”

Finally, the Prémio Possidónio Mateus Laranjo Coelho, worth 750 euros, was awarded to Saúl António Gomes for “Albergaria-a-Velha e Arcediagado de Vouga: coletânea histórica dos séculos X a XVI.”

The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday at 15:00 at Palácio dos Lilases in Lisbon, the Academy’s headquarters, as part of the closing session of the academic year and the celebration of the Academy Day.
