
The PSD, the largest parliamentary group in the Assembleia da República, will lead seven parliamentary committees, including the Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms, and Guarantees Committee.
Miguel Santos, a deputy who previously chaired the Economy Committee, will assume the presidency of the Infrastructure, Mobility and Housing Committee.
PSD general secretary Paulo Cavaleiro will head the Culture, Communication, Youth, and Sports Committee, previously chaired by the PS during the 16th legislature. Maurício Marques will preside over the Agriculture and Fisheries Committee, while Hugo Oliveira will take charge of the Environment and Energy Committee. The latter was previously led by social democrat Salvador Malheiro, now serving as Secretary of State for Fisheries and the Sea in the 25th Constitutional Government.
José Cesário returns to parliament after serving as Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities in the first PSD/CDS-PP government led by Luís Montenegro. He will lead the Foreign Affairs Committee, previously chaired by socialist Sérgio Sousa Pinto, who has left parliament.
Chega will preside over four parliamentary committees (National Defense, Education, Budget, and Transparency), as will the PS (European Affairs; Economy and Territorial Cohesion; Health; and Work, Social Security, and Inclusion).
