JP’s School of Frames takes place this weekend (with Seguro and Cotrim)

This year’s Escola de Quadros event is set to take place from Friday to Sunday at a hotel in Évora, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) as its main theme.

The leader of JP confirmed that 55 young individuals are registered for this Escola de Quadros.

The program reveals that the intervention of the presidential candidate supported by PS, António José Seguro, is scheduled for Friday with the theme “Between Algorithms and Human Decisions”.

The intervention by the candidate supported by IL, João Cotrim de Figueiredo, is slated for Saturday, also focusing on “Between Algorithms and Human Decisions”.

Catarina Marinho noted that in addition to these two candidates, Luís Marques Mendes and Henrique Gouveia e Melo were also invited, but they were unavailable to attend.

JP decided at its last National Council meeting over the weekend not to endorse any of the candidates for Belém, allowing its members freedom of choice in voting. Meanwhile, CDS-PP is expected to support one of the announced presidential candidates but has not yet declared which one.

The first panel of the Escola de Quadros will be led by CDS-PP MEP Ana Miguel Pedro, discussing “Digital Europe: Risks and Opportunities of AI”.

That same day will feature a presentation by the European political information platform Parl8, a masterclass with political communication consultant José Paz Ferreira, and a workshop with consultant Filipe Mendes.

The dinner will include a discussion on “Misinformation and the Crisis of Trust in Media with the Arrival of AI”, featuring content creator Rute Sousa and professor and researcher Hélder Prior.

On Saturday, the Secretary of State for Internal Administration and CDS-PP Vice-President, Telmo Correia, will address “Internal Security and New Digital Challenges”, alongside cybersecurity expert Sérgio Silva.

During this second day, young centrists can participate in a public speaking workshop and attend a panel with former deputy and Leya Publishing CEO Ana Rita Bessa, Portuguese Authors Society administrator Paula Cunha, and Audiogest General Director Miguel Carretas to explore if “the Future of Culture is Human”.

Following this, former JP leader Francisco Camacho, local councilor António Pinto Xavier, and consultant Miguel Carvalho will discuss how to “Prepare the Local Future”. A workshop titled “Leading Under Pressure: Communication and Strategy in Times of Crisis” with communication consultant José Bourbon Ribeiro is also planned.

After dinner, the youth will have the opportunity to hear former CDS-PP leader Paulo Portas present on “The Geopolitics of Technology”.

The event will conclude on Sunday, the final day, with closing remarks by JP leader Catarina Marinho and CDS-PP President Nuno Melo.
