The SFJ has called a strike between 00h00 on February 15 and 24h00 on March 15, for which minimum services have already been defined.
The Judicial Employees Union (SFJ) is meeting this afternoon with the Assistant Secretary of State for Justice.
According to a source from the SFJ, the meeting with Jorge Costa Alves is scheduled for 4pm at the Ministry of Justice in Lisbon.
The call comes after a press conference held on Tuesday, in which António Marçal, president of the SFJ, confirmed the start of the strike and rejected allegations of “illegality” by the Directorate General of the Administration of Justice (DGAJ), which he accuses of intimidation.
In question is a letter from the DGAJ, in which the agency, which depends on the Ministry of Justice, writesthat the strike “has an illicit configuration, under the terms in which the right to strike is constitutionally guaranteed,” which raised “serious doubts” and prompted a request to the office of the Assistant Secretary of State and Justice, “with a note of urgency, that the Advisory Council of the Attorney General’s Office takes a position on the legality of the strike declared by the SFJ,” as well as “the consequences for workers who will invoke the respective adherence.
The Minister of Justice, Catarina Sarmento e Castro, was this morning confronted with the tense situation between the SFJ and the DGAJ and showed her respect for those who are on strike: “The right to strike is a constitutional right, so we respect the right to strike.
