The musicians Julinho KSD, Slow J and ProfJam are some of the names on the poster for the 37th Academic Week of the University of the Algarve, which takes place from April 25 to May 4, the academic association said.

In a statement, the Academic Association of the University of the Algarve (AAUAlg) released the poster and program for an event that it says is “the biggest student festival south of the Tagus” and that will take place at the Penha Sports Complex in Faro, a venue known these days as ‘Wonderland’.

According to the event’s organizing committee, the Monumental Serenata group will kick off the festivities on April 25 in Largo da Sé, with a performance by the In Versus group, which will strengthen “the bonds and unity of academic tradition”.

“This year in particular, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of April 25, we reaffirm values such as freedom, democracy and civic responsibility, which are essential for the development of students and the growth of our academy,” the note reads.

On Friday, April 26, there will be performances by the group Os Marafados, winners of the RUA Stage – Música JA 2023, Hybrid Theory (a Portuguese Linkin Park tribute band) and Danni Gato.

The following day, the day of the Blessing of the Pastures, the Algarve Academic Week welcomes Marta Lima, the artist who came second in the RUA Stage – Música JA 2023 competition, Os Quatro e Meia, DJ Deelight and Landu Bi.

On Sunday, April 28, it will be the turn of Miguel Azevedo and DJ MrKool and on Monday, April 29, Ruben Filipe and Baile da Ciumenta, known as the biggest funk ball in Europe, will take to the stage.

On Tuesday April 30, the organizers stress that there will be a “guaranteed party” with rapper Papillon, Zanova and Slow J, who on March 7 and 8 sold out the country’s largest concert hall, the Altice Arena.

On May 1st, the Algarve’s Uzzy and rapper ProfJam will perform, while the following day, Thursday, will be the usual day of tunas with IsmaTuna, Real Tuna Infantina, Versus Tuna, TunaBebes and Feminis Ferventis.

It should also be noted that May 3 will be marked by the choice of an international artist to perform in Wonderland, Gabi Saiury, and the artists Julinho KSD and Breyth.

The student festival ends this edition on Saturday, May 4 with Diogo Ribeiro, the artist who came third in the RUA Stage – Música JA 2023 competition.

XTinto, Plutonio, DJ Dadda and KURA are some of the other names marking the end of the University of the Algarve’s academic week.
