In July, purchasing a house on Portugal’s most expensive street cost an average of 8,106,364 euros. This figure is attributed to the Urbanização Quinta do Lago, located in Almancil, in the Algarve.
An analysis by idealista, released on Monday, further reveals that the “top ten ranking of the most expensive streets to buy a house is dominated by properties located in Cascais,” according to a statement sent to Notícias ao Minuto.
“Completing the podium of this luxury ranking are Rua Soto Maior in Sintra, with an average price of 3,912,000 euros, and Avenida dos Descobrimentos in Lagos (3,797,450 euros),” the same statement reads.
The fourth priciest address for purchasing a house is located at Rua Vilas do Mar in the parish of Carvalhal (3,644,444 euros). The list follows with Rua Faias in Cascais (3,589,091 euros) and Rua Melo e Sousa in Estoril, where the average price of luxury homes is about 3,554,768 euros.
Next, in the seventh position is Rua dos Pinheiros, located in Cascais, with houses averaging 3,312,105 euros.
The list of the ten most expensive streets is completed by Rua do Pinhal in Estoril (3,195,000 euros), Avenida 24 de Julho in Lisbon (3,054,850 euros), and Rua Carreira de Tiro in Barcarena (3,021,933 euros).

Idealista notes that “to create this analysis, the average absolute price of apartments and houses listed on the same street was analyzed.”
“To avoid data distortions, only streets with a minimum of 10 listings were considered, and duplicate properties were removed. This analysis only reveals the average price of streets with properties for sale, which does not necessarily mean these are the most expensive houses in each market,” the statement further communicates.
Effort Rate: Buying a House in Portugal Requires 71% of Income
Buying a house in Portugal requires 71% of income, while the effort rate for renting is at 83%, according to data also released by idealista.
“The financial effort required to rent a house in Portugal increased to 83% in the second quarter, one percentage point above the 82% recorded at the same time in 2024. Meanwhile, the national effort rate for buying a house remained stable at 71% during this period,” states a communiqué sent to Notícias ao Minuto.
Data show that of the 20 cities analyzed, “Faro experienced the most significant increase in the effort rate for renting a house over the past year, rising from 70% in the second quarter of 2024 to 90% in the same period of 2025, a 20 percentage point increase.”
“Among the largest increases in renting effort rates over the last year are Ponta Delgada (15 percentage points), Guarda (4 percentage points), Funchal (3 percentage points), Braga (2 percentage points), Aveiro (2 percentage points), Leiria (1 percentage point), and Viseu (1 percentage point). In Bragança and Castelo Branco, the effort rate did not change during this period,” according to the disclosed statement.
