Kalorama Festival kicks off with Pet Shop Boys and The Flaming Lips

The lineup for today, the first of three days, also includes David Bruno, Capital da Bulgária, Cara de Espelho, Sevdaliza, L’Impératrice, Kriativu Jam (a project combining the culture and rhythms of Cape Verde with the unique energy of Lisbon), Kierastoboy, Olof Dreijer, Roi Perez, and 2ManyDJs.

From today until Sunday, there will be 41 performances, divided among three stages.

On Friday, the lineup features FKA Twigs, Scissor Sisters, Cíntia, Best Youth, Azealia Banks, Heartworms, MAQUINA., Model/Atriz, Boy Harsher, Róisin Murphy, Viegas, Identified Patient, Kelly Lee Owens, and Helena Hauff.

For the final festival day on Saturday, performances are scheduled from Damiano David, the lead singer of Maneskin, Branko with a special show for Kalorama, Carla Prata, Jamine 4.T, Noga Erez, Jorja Smith, Yakuza, Badbadnotgood, Royel Otis, Bernardo Vaz, Anish Kumar, Jennifer Cardini, Ryan Elliott, and Daniel Avery.

The venue opens at 16:00 and closes at 03:00 the following day.

In its fourth edition, Kalorama is “more inclusive,” allowing “anyone to attend,” according to the director of the promoter Last Tour Portugal, Diogo Marques.

Marques noted that ticket prices have been reduced, installment payments are available, and the organization has established “more partnerships with the city,” offering discounts for those with Navegante passes or a Youth Card.

The organization recommends using public transportation “to prevent cars from flocking to Bela Vista and ensuring people can arrive calmly.”

For accessibility, partnerships with various brands have been arranged, including free shuttles for ticket holders. These shuttle services run from 15:00 to 04:00, every half hour, between Sete Rios and Parque da Bela Vista, stopping at Avenida de Berna, Avenida de Roma, and Avenida Estados Unidos da América.

Additionally, there is a partnership with a parking company offering special rates for Kalorama ticket holders.

Transport company partnerships also provide discounts to festival ticket holders.

Individuals with disabilities attending the festival alone have access to a free companion service, although these companions are “not personal assistants,” and there are several areas within the venue equipped to accommodate them.

Persons with 60% or more disability, holding an appropriate certificate, are entitled to a free ticket for their personal assistant. There will be reserved parking for those with limited mobility and vehicles displaying the appropriate badge, as well as an adapted shuttle from Estação do Oriente to the festival entrance.

Support teams are present at the venue entrance, and in front of the two main stages, there is a “zone for deaf individuals to feel the sound vibrations” with technicians interpreting performances in Portuguese Sign Language.

Platforms in front of the two main stages will offer an audio description service for blind and visually impaired individuals.

The festival also includes a ‘chill-out’ room for neurodivergent people and a workshop “for minor wheelchair repairs, lending motorized kits that attach to chairs for greater independence.”

Visual Arts continue to be a highlight at this primarily music-focused festival.

This year, stage designs are handled by the collectives Openfield and Malibu Ninjas.

The payment system remains 100% cashless, “but without a wristband,” requiring only bank cards or smartphones for transactions.

Therefore, only those with three-day passes will need to exchange their tickets for wristbands, solely for venue access.

Three-day passes for Kalorama cost 105 euros, while daily tickets are priced at 55 euros.
