The municipality of Alcanena, located in the district of Santarém, has announced the launch of the Entretanto – Cultural Connection and Community Festival. This initiative aims to unite the community through music, discussions, and culinary offerings, highlighting its local, traditional, and community-centric essence.
The festival, offering free admission, will feature headline performances by Deixem o Pimba em Paz, A Garota Não, Kura, and 5.ª Punkada, along with over 20 local, emerging, and national artists. The event will also include food stalls managed by local community organizations.
Activities will be held at Praça 8 de Maio and Jardim da Cultura, featuring the All Come Community Gathering on July 6 and the International Folklore Festival on July 10. These events aim to showcase cultural richness and diversity, attracting a broader audience.
The four-day festival reaffirms its commitment to promoting regional young artists and entrepreneurs. It will host seven folklore groups, including four from Alcanena and three international groups, on July 10.
The ‘Entretanto Usamos os 3Rs’ project, a collaboration between the municipality and the IPDJ under the Young Volunteer Program for Nature and Forests, involves participants creating decorative elements for the festival.
The event will also feature the All Come – III Meeting of Migrant Communities Residing in Alcanena, emphasizing cultural exchanges and culinary sharing.
The ALL Come initiative, part of the Municipal Program for the Reception and Integration of Migrants in Alcanena, is based on the principle that everyone is welcome. It promotes community integration, equality of opportunity, and social justice, as highlighted by the municipality.
The municipality notes that the initiative is ecumenical, expanding sociocultural and religious boundaries and emphasizing the need for tolerance, dialogue, coexistence, and cooperation among different peoples, cultures, churches, and religions for full integration.
