The municipality of Alcanena, located in the district of Santarém and organizer of the event, announced that the Entretanto – Cultural Connection and Community Festival is a manifestation of the desire to unite the community through “music, discussions, and gastronomic choices,” emphasizing its “community, local, and traditional essence”.
The event, offering free admission, will feature headliners such as Deixem o Pimba em Paz, A Garota Não, Kura, and 5.ª Punkada, among “more than 20 local, emerging, and national artists,” along with a selection of food stalls managed by local associations.
Activities will be held at Praça 8 de Maio and Jardim da Cultura, including the All Come Community Gathering on July 6, and the International Folklore Festival on July 10, bringing “cultural richness and diversity that make the festival more inclusive,” aiming to “reach a broader audience”.
The four-day festival, which “reinforces its commitment to promoting young artists and entrepreneurs from the region,” will also feature seven folklore groups (four from Alcanena and three international) on July 10.
As part of the ‘Entretanto Usamos os 3Rs’ Project, an initiative promoted in partnership between the municipality and IPDJ within the Youth Volunteering Program for Nature and Forests, participants are creating elements that will decorate the festival’s venues.
The event also includes All Come – III Meeting of Migrant Communities Residing in the Municipality of Alcanena, featuring gastronomic sharing and cultural displays.
ALL Come – Welcoming with Freedom – is the name of the Municipal Program for the Reception and Integration of Migrants in the Municipality of Alcanena, inspired by the principle that “everyone is welcome in Alcanena, with the goal of integration with the local community, equal opportunities, and social justice,” as stated by the municipality.
According to the municipality, the initiative “relies on an ecumenical logic, expanding socio-cultural and religious boundaries,” highlighting the “necessity for tolerance, dialogue, coexistence, and cooperation among peoples, cultures, churches, and religions for full integration.”
