
“The government is not in a hurry regarding the negotiation,” as the preliminary draft “is very large” and “touches on many matters,” therefore “the negotiation must be thorough,” stated the Minister of Labor, Solidarity, and Social Security, upon leaving the social consultation meeting in Lisbon.
However, “the government will not perpetuate this matter in social consultation,” as “social consultation is one of several phases” of the process, added Rosário Palma Ramalho, emphasizing that after this step, the preliminary draft will be turned into a “bill and will proceed to the Assembly of the Republic, where there will be another phase of debate.”
