Larry Ellison, from Oracle, surpasses Musk and is the richest man in the world

Larry Ellison, co-founder of the multinational technology company Oracle, has surpassed Elon Musk to become the richest person in the world, with a fortune estimated at $393 billion (approximately €336 billion).

The wealth of the 81-year-old Ellison increased by $101 billion (€86 billion) following Oracle’s quarterly results, one of the world’s largest software companies known for its database management systems (BDMS).

As of 10:10 AM in New York on Wednesday, the American entrepreneur became the world’s richest person, overtaking the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, whose wealth is valued at $385 billion (€328 billion).

Musk became the world’s richest person for the first time in 2021, but was surpassed by Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos and Bernard Arnault of the luxury group LVMH.

The former head of the United States Government Efficiency Department regained the top position last year, holding the title for around 300 days.

Ellison co-founded the Software Development Laboratories in 1977, which later became Oracle Corporation.

The American tech giant is primarily known for Oracle Database, one of the most widely used relational database management systems in the world.

Ellison served as Oracle’s CEO until 2014, after which he became the company’s chairman and CTO (Chief Technology Officer).
