António Nunes, who participated today in Viana do Castelo in an extraordinary meeting of the LBP National Council, acknowledged that “territorial cohesion is far from what everyone, including the Government, would like it to be.”
At a time when Portugal is facing a heatwave, following closely on the heels of a previous one, António Nunes expressed hope that if these hot days continue, the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, along with the State Secretary for Internal Administration, would meet with the League to hear its proposals for enhancing responses.
This morning’s National Council meeting addressed the need to revise the LBP statutes, the Firefighter Social Support, and the decorations regulation.
Regarding the Firefighter Social Support Fund, League counselors urged the Government to “reassess the annual allocation to the fund,” advocating for an increase.
“It is essential for the Government to reconsider the social support provided to firefighters,” stated António Nunes, highlighting that they “give their all” in protecting people and property.
