
Voting stations will remain open until 7:00 PM in mainland Portugal and Madeira, while in the Azores, they open and close an hour later than Lisbon’s time due to the time difference.
The Secretariat-General of the Ministry of Internal Administration has announced that 10.8 million voters are eligible to participate in today’s early legislative elections.
A total of 230 deputies will be elected, distributed across 22 electoral circles. Of these, 18 are in mainland Portugal, with the remaining in the Azores, Madeira, Europe, and outside Europe. The electoral process is estimated to cost around 26.5 million euros.
In these elections, 21 political forces are competing, three more than in the elections held in March last year.
The Social Liberal Party (PLS) is the sole newcomer in this electoral event, joining other parties such as AD (PSD/CDS-PP), PS, Chega, IL, BE, CDU (PCP/PEV), Livre, PAN, ADN, RIR, JPP, PCTP/MRPP, Nova Direita, Volt Portugal, Ergue-te, Nós, Cidadãos!, PPM, and with lists only in one or both of the autonomous regions, MPT, PTP, and PSD/CDS/PPM.
