“The completion is expected in the summer of 2027,” stated José Frazão to the Lusa agency. Frazão, the owner of the ‘Hotel Lis’ brand, operates one hotel in Batalha and has two in Lisbon, one of which is nearing completion and is set to open in September.
Following the ceremony marking the start of construction on the future hotel, located alongside the Polis route in the city of Leiria, the businessman noted that this investment, named ‘Hotel Lis Garden’, will be his first five-star hotel and the first with such a classification in Leiria.
A press release mentioned that “Leiria is preparing to receive a new tourism investment exceeding 15 million euros (ME), the Hotel Lis Garden, which promises to enhance the city’s national and international presence in the tourism and corporate events and congress sectors.”
The project, in addition to constructing a hotel with 100 rooms, includes an “events center with a capacity for 450 people, spread across multiple meeting and training rooms, totaling 7,500 square meters.”
“Supported by the Compete 2030 program [Thematic Innovation and Digital Transition Program] and Turismo de Portugal, the project aims to boost the economic appeal of Leiria and the Centro region, placing the city on the map of corporate events,” explained the same release.
According to the same source, “the turnkey concept will offer permanent technical infrastructures, ready to use, including sound systems, videowalls, streaming, and digital access control.”
“The events center will be prepared to host small fairs, exhibitions, and corporate conferences, supported by teams experienced in organizing large events,” it added.
Quoted in the press release, the businessman, also the administrator of Exposalão, an exhibition center in Batalha, stressed that “business tourism is a strategic opportunity to diversify the regional economy and combat seasonality,” believing that “this project can be a real lever for sustainable growth of the territory.”
