On Friday, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MECI) had already stated that the effects of the full recovery of service time would start to reach primary and secondary school teachers in September, for about five thousand teachers.
Today, after the deadline (11:59 PM on Sunday) for the validation of information by teachers and schools, the ministry specified that 5,924 teachers have their processes completed.
At the same time, 2,088 processes were validated by teachers and are now awaiting confirmation by the school principal.
There are still 6,627 processes initiated by schools awaiting validation by teachers, according to the Ministry, adding that these numbers should increase significantly throughout September, with the start of school activities.
In total, up to 11:59 PM on Sunday, 76,809 teachers accessed the platform for recognition of frozen service time.
“In the case of processes that are completed from today onwards, teachers will receive their new salary scale in the month following the completion of all procedures, with guaranteed retroactive payment effective from September,” the note states.
In the statement, MECI also indicated that schools have already received authorization to process salaries taking into account these career repositionings.
All teachers who only complete the processes from today onwards will receive salary adjustments retroactive to September 1st.
MECI notes that since the end of June, schools have been updating all necessary data so that the recovery of service time can produce effects on career progression and teachers’ salaries as soon as possible.
The recovery of six years, six months, and 23 days of work that was frozen during the Troika period was one of the main demands in teachers’ struggles in recent years, leading thousands of teachers to take to the streets and call many strikes.
The current education ministry team reached an agreement with the unions in May, in a model that provides for a phased recovery over four years.
