The latest Housing Statistical Summary from the Association of Civil Construction and Public Works Industries (AICCOPN) reveals that the number of municipal licenses issued for the construction and rehabilitation of residential buildings grew by 9.0% year-on-year in the first eight months of the year, reaching 13,488.
The number of dwellings licensed in new constructions increased by 23.1%, totaling 27,295 homes.
From January to August, AICCOPN data indicates that cement consumption in the national market experienced a year-on-year decline of 1.6%, amounting to 2,657 thousand tons.
The new home loan credit amount granted by banks, excluding renegotiations, rose by 37.7% in the first eight months of the year, reaching 14.813 billion euros. The interest rate on home loans was 3.31% in August, a decrease of 111 basis points from the same period the previous year.
In August, the median housing price, determined for bank appraisal purposes, rose by 18.1% compared to the same month in 2024, driven by increases of 22.6% in the apartment segment and 10.3% in houses.
