
An accident occurred on the EN4 near the city of Estremoz, with authorities receiving the alert at 9:54 a.m., a source from the Alentejo Central’s Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command stated.
The incident involved a head-on collision between two vehicles.
A contact at the Estremoz Fire Department confirmed that the deceased is a 30-year-old man who was driving the light goods vehicle, with death declared at the scene.
The truck driver was attended to at the scene by emergency teams, according to the source from the Alentejo Central’s Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command.
As of 11:20 a.m., the EN4 was closed to traffic at the accident site.
Rescue operations involved the fire departments of Estremoz and Borba, the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), GNR, PSP, and the Municipal Civil Protection Service, totaling 23 operatives supported by 11 vehicles.
A medical emergency and resuscitation vehicle (VMER) was among the resources deployed.
