
One in every three passengers at Lisbon Airport may be entitled to compensation, as reported by AirAdvisor, which estimates that 34% of flights departing from Lisbon experienced disruptions such as delays and cancellations. Affected customers could be eligible for compensation ranging from €250 to €600.
“Around 11.9 million passengers who used Lisbon Airport in 2024 faced some kind of disruption in their flights, such as delays and cancellations, and may be entitled to financial compensation that can reach up to €600. This estimate is from the platform AirAdvisor, which suggests that 34% of passengers encountered operational problems over the past year,” stated a communiqué.
Moreover, “For passengers affected by delays exceeding three hours, cancellations, or denied boarding, European legislation provides for compensation ranging from €250 to €600, depending on the flight distance and waiting time.”
“Established as Portugal’s primary air hub, Lisbon Airport alone handled 49.8% of the nation’s total passengers last year, equivalent to 35.1 million people. These figures are from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) and represent a 4.3% growth compared to the previous year,” it was further noted.
