Entries for the 2024 edition of the Lisbon Marathon have sold out just three months before the race, with 8,000 registered, the vast majority of them foreigners, the organization of the race that unites the municipalities of Cascais, Oeiras and Lisbon announced today.

In a statement, the organizers of the Lisbon Marathon said that 6,000 foreign runners of 90 different nationalities have registered.

According to the organizers, the registration of 2,000 Portuguese for the race on October 6 is a record number of national athletes in a marathon.

“Reaching the record of 8,000 participants in the premier distance of athletics is a clear sign that, with the support of our sponsors, we are doing a recognized job,” said Carlos Móia, president of the Maratona Clube de Portugal.
