This year, the festival introduces a significant innovation by awarding a prize in its International Short Film Showcase, which centers on mental health, bringing together works that explore this theme, the organization announced.
The 9th edition is scheduled to take place from May 22 to 25 at various venues, including Cinema São Jorge, the auditorium of the Orlando Ribeiro Library, and the Telheiras Horticultural Park.
This year’s program features ‘M-Click,’ a new festival concept comprising 10-minute presentations where guests share disruptive ideas about mental health, focusing on promotion and prevention, among other aspects.
The ‘M-Talks,’ which pair film screenings with discussions, will tackle topics such as ‘Bullying and Grief’ and ‘War and Conflict.’ The festival’s musical performance segment, ‘My Story/My Song,’ will feature Mimicat, who will perform songs that have marked her journey, opening the floor to audience interaction through questions.
The full program will be announced shortly.
The MENTAL Festival is organized by the non-profit association Safe Space Portugal, in coproduction with the National Coordination for Mental Health Policies.
