Lisbon metro workers schedule strikes for September 9 and 11.

The strike is scheduled from 05:00 to 10:00 for operational workers, 07:00 to 12:00 for workshop sector workers, 07:30 to 12:30 for fixed and administrative sector workers, and 02:00 to 07:00 for night services workers, according to a statement by the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans).

According to the union, either the government or the board of directors of the Lisbon Metro “decide to open dialogue with concrete proposals in due time before the strike begins,” or the unions “will fulfill the mandate expressed in the meetings to intensify the struggle.”

Fectrans also expressed its “full availability” to be at the negotiating table on behalf of the workers.

“This is a moment of unity, and now as in the past, it will be the determination of the workers that will lead to the success of this just struggle which belongs to everyone,” the Fectrans statement said.

The Lisbon Metro operates daily with four lines: Yellow (Rato-Odivelas), Green (Telheiras-Cais do Sodré), Blue (Reboleira-Santa Apolónia), and Red (Aeroporto-São Sebastião).

Normally, the metro operates between 06:30 and 01:00.
